Well, it seems IBAN and BON have had enough. Two days ago, they announced the ban of all Nigerian artists registered with COSON. Meaning that they ordered the immediate stop to the airing of songs of artists who are COSON members.
The artists include 2face Idibia, D'banj, Onyeka Onwenu, Iyanya, Banky W, Flavour, Ice Prince, Dr Sid, Olamide, 9ice, M.I, eLDee, Ruggedman, Wizkid, Asa, Waje, Omawumi and several others.
In a statement released and signed jointly by the President and Secretary of IBAN, Sonny Adun and Guy Murray Bruce, the need for such a drastic step was due to "the antagonism and harassment under the leadership of Tony Okoroji (COSON Chairman)”. Continue...
The statement in part reads "No person or organisation, particularly a collection society such as COSON has a monopoly of authority over any other…IBAN and BON have the utmost respect for Nigerian artistes in their individual and collective capacities and have indeed contributed more than any known institution to the promotion of Nigerian music and the development of the entertainment industry as a whole."
They are accusing COSON of arbitrarily imposing and concocting fees which are not based on any agreeable and verifiable tariff and standards.
However Mr Okoroji while reacting to the decision of the broadcasting bodies says the issue here is the strict stand COSON has on the royalties of artist works used on any of the broadcast stations. He says some stations have this attitude of "we can handle COSON" and goes on airing the works of the artist without paying them their due royalty which COSON is strongly against.

A birth control pill for guys is getting closer to becoming a reality. Scientists are calling it a breakthrough.
They say that the technique works like a vasectomy, but without surgery. Instead, the technique stops sperm from leaving the body during sex.
Prior attempts at surgery-free male birth control either altered a man’s hormones or tried to make sperm ineffective.
Researchers say that this pill will reassure men concerned about their libido or virility.
The new technique has been shown to work in mice. The male mice tested were made 100% infertile temporarily, but the sperm retained in their body was undamaged and even later used to produce healthy baby mice.
OH WELL! There you have it guys! LOL

All Catholics in the world will go to hell because they worship Satan and are led by an Anti-Christ Pope who is a friend to the devil, Nigeria’s controversial preacher and former presidential candidate, Chris Okotie, told his congregation on Sunday, leaving members bewildered.
Fifty-five year old Okotie, while preaching in his Household of God Church in Ikeja area of Lagos, western Nigeria, said the Catholic church is “a counterfeit church set up by Satan” and that Catholics “bow to idols and crucify Jesus every Sunday when they eat bread claiming they are eating Jesus’ body.”
It promises to be a very insightful and informative show on fashion, lifestyle, movies, personal finance and everything women want to talk about.

The former Enyimba man only needed to protect his net for four minutes against Marseille to slip ahead of Sirigu.

Aliyu stated this in Minna when chieftains of APC, led by its national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, visited him on Tuesday evening, to woo him into APC in the face of the lingering altercation in the ruling party.
The Niger governor, who was a little short of accusing APC leaders of impatience in their membership drive, said a decision must be taken by the G7 governors on the PDP one way or the other, before deciding on the next line of action.
“We are still discussing, we are still negotiating. I want to assure you that if we eventually settle, we shall treat you as friends and if we fail to resolve, then we shall consider your proposal.”
Aliyu, who is the chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, admonished the ruling PDP to wake up to the stark reality that no condition is permanent, warning that the party in power today may find itself in the opposition tomorrow.
He, therefore, urged PDP to be mindful of how it relates with the opposition party. He reiterated his earlier assertion that the coming of APC was a welcome development for the nation’s democracy.
According to him, the APC was a strong opposition that Nigeria needed for its democracy to blossom. Akande, in his opening address, said the party chieftains were in Minna to woo Governor Aliyu into the party, wondering why a gentleman of Aliyu’s caliber should choose to remain in a party that does not appreciate him.
Other APC leaders in the entourage to Minna included former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; former Foreign Affairs Minister and national chairman of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Chief Tom Ikimi; former Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari and former governor of Edo State, Chief John Oyegun.
Buhari and Tinubu in their speeches, told their host that APC was formed to bring about positive changes by way of good governance to Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday congratulated the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on their qualification for the final match of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Soccer Championship in the United Arab Emirates.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President said he joined other very proud and happy Nigerians within and outside the country in applauding the Eaglets’ enthralling 3-0 victory over their Swedish opponents in the Semi-Final match.
As the Eaglets prepare for the final match against the Mexican team, Jonathan urged them not to be over-confident or take victory for granted.
“The President assures the Eaglets and their handlers of the continued prayers, best wishes and fullest support of the Federal Government and all Nigerians as they strive to achieve ultimate victory in the competition. He looks forward to receiving them at the Presidential Villa when they triumphantly return to Nigeria,” the statement read.
Kanu’s goals two decades ago propelled Nigeria to their second title of the U-17 competition and he believes the present squad have what it takes to add a record fourth trophy.
The retired Nigerian player, who went on to help Nigeria win a gold medal at the Atlanta ‘96 Olympic Games, left Lagos on Thursday, to cheer the Eaglets to victory in Abu Dhabi.
He said, “When I watched these boys in Calabar during the African qualifiers, I said they were a team to watch out for but I don’t think a lot of people agreed with me.
“But I knew what I was saying. The boys are talented and know how to score goals. The only problem the team had was in defence, which had been rectified by the coaches.”
The Eaglets-Mexico match-up brings back memories of the 2001 edition in Trinidad & Tobago, when the Nigerian youngsters beat France in the group stage but lost the final of the competition to the same team.
Nigeria had hammered Mexico 6-1 in their Group F opener in Al Ain last month but the Mexicans bounced back, beating the likes of Brazil and Argentina, on the way to the final.
“This is a different team. With a little bit of luck, they will surely triumph. They need the support of all Nigerians,” Kanu said.

Close associates of late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu are angry over the latest twist to the family feud which resulted from the deceased Eze Igbo Gburugburu’s controversial Will. The cause of anger was the claim last week by some members of the Ojukwu family that Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu was not legally married to their brother, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
Coming out in strident defence of the late Ikemba’s wife was, Sir Azuka Okwuosa, who has described the claim as wicked and the biggest lie that could only come from the pit of hell.
Okwuosa, a close confidant of Ojukwu while he was alive told Sunday Sun in Enugu that he was a page-boy at Ojukwu’s wedding held in Abuja in 1994, where his relations, including those who had now turned back to say that Bianca was not legally married, were in attendance.
He also disclosed that eight years after the Abuja church wedding the same people accompanied Ikemba to the late Chief C.C. Onoh’s residence in Nkwo, Enugu State where Ojukwu consummated in accordance with the native laws and traditions of Igbo land the traditional marriage of Bianca.
Okwuosa who was a former chairman of the Nnewi Local Government during the military era, therefore, cautioned the members of the Ojukwu family to have some restraints as they try to sort out their differences in court as they had refused his earlier advice to them to follow the path of dialogue.
